Another Rock Star Look.

This is Matilda’s latest look.  Do you think it will catch on?

march-misc-20097

I found her like this today, took a few pictures, turned my back and she started again.  In the end I thought I would just do the “scrapping mum” favourite and keep shooting rather than stop her LOL. These are really great textas and wash off in water, no scrubbing at all.

Why the Rock Star reference?, Check out this film clip . Its one of our favourites at the moment and we usually see it each weekend on rage.  I think this is where she got the idea from.

I went scrapping with the girls on the weekend. Had a great evening and even got some work done…..but not much . Here is my LO. Its the first one I have completed since late last year. I am still working in my December Daily book LOL, up to the 19th now.

very simple layout but still took a while to do, though that could be due to the fact I tend to chat more than I scrap.

My Uncle John arrived from England on Friday. We had a lovely day together yesterday (will save pics for next post). He and my parents are currently stuck at Orbost tonight. They were heading up to Eden for the week but discovered that the roads are closed at Cann River due to bushfires.  They are waiting to see what happens tomorrow , but there is a chance they will have to turn around and come home .  Fingers crossed they get through.

Enjoy the week ahead,

Not long until the holidays (and sleep ins) YAY

Its amazing the difference in my garden now that we have had a little rain. Everything is growing again :-)

There are a few spaces where plants have been lost but it seems to be mostly OK.

Its been a pretty quiet week around here, just the usual running around, but my Uncle arrived from the UK last night so its about to get very busy.

Have been playing a little with my camera as well, changing different settings here and there.  Not going so good , really need to find a course to do and soon!

and we got the traditional ” i got into mums lipstick” photo from Matilda (with a little Vegemite on the side).

Steve and I feel this is her grunge/rock star/Kurt Cobain look! LOL!  She is such a parrot at the moment, will copy anything I/anyone does (good and bad).

Ben 10 is just starting and this little girl is currently yelling “YAY, I love Ben10!”, point proven.

Off with the girls tonight for a scrap/chat .

Have fun, Enjoy Life

Time to get serious.

dsc_0013-6

I have a pretty cool camera that I love love love…. but I don’t know how to use it!.  So this is it, time to get serious, time to ignore that little setting on the top that says “Auto” and use the thing properly!.  See attempt #1 above.  I know this means lots and lots of not so good photos but I have to make the effort to learn. Who knows, later this year I may be able to buy a new lens or two so it would really help If I could learn how to use the one I have first :-)

Get ready for some shockers ha ha

A Nice Change.

The weather today has been a welcomed change.  Of course we had many plans for the day, all of which were cancelled due to the rain, but I am not complaining.  The water tank has been full since early afternoon.

We were hit with a storm this evening which was just crazy!. I dont know if I have ever seen wind like it before, the whole house seemed to be shaking (again).

Lucky for us, last Sunday the weather was a little calmer as we headed up to the Dandenongs.march-misc-20091

The drive up and back was dotted with areas burnt out by fires, scary how close they came to homes in the area.   Was a little sad too looking out towards areas like Kinglake from the top of Mt D, remembering what all those living there are still going through.

We visited the William Ricketts Sanctuary and had a lovely picnic at Sky High.  Whilst eating our lunch, I kept looking around, thinking something didnt look right and then it hit me, the grass was bright green!. I mean lush, freshly mown, GREEN!!!!.  It looked so beautiful.

The week in between seemed to go by in a blur, so much going on, looking forward to the school holidays.  :-)

Last night we made the most of the mild evening and headed to our local park.

(yes I know, same smiles, they look so much alike….)  .

On the walk home we were treated to a beautiful sunset and some pretty amazing storm clouds.

These photos do not show the true colours in the sky last night. If someone knows how to take a photograph of a lovely red sunset, please let me know .

As I type it is still raining and pretty cold. Like I said, a nice change.

Take care, Enjoy Life

Did the earth move for you?

It did for me and to be honest I didnt like it one little bit!.  We heard it coming, a deep low rumble that gradually got louder, about 10 seconds before everything started shaking. I was at one end of the house reading the paper and watching Collingwood on TV (yes I am female so can do two things at once:-P) whilst Steve was at the other end playing PS3.  We met in the hallway, a little confused. The house was still shaking and my heart was pounding out of my chest.  You could hear it travel through the house, starting at the front and working its way to the back.  I have felt tremors before but nothing like this one.  I was surprised by how much it bothered me.  I missed the next tremor at 3am, thank goodness.  Hopefully that is it for now, Mother Nature is certainly throwing her weight around showing us all who is really in control.

On a lighter note here is Riley and Butch. A boy and his dog, Part 2.

Having a nap on the couch.  They do love each other so much :-)

Have a great long weekend. We are out tomorrow, no idea where at the moment but will find something fun to do.

A New Season.

Goodbye Summer, hello Autumn :-)  . I know that the heat has not finished with us just yet but at least its a start.

We spent the last night of summer at the Berwick Show. It was quite cool ( not that I am complaining!) which made the evening very pleasant indeed.  We did the usual, hot jam donuts, showbags, rides as well as watched a sky diving display. The highlight for my bike mad family was definitely the FMX Dirt Bike display followed by a meet and greet and some poster signing.

I only took my point and shoot, so the pictures are not that good.  We made it home around 10pm and we were all in bed asleep before 10:30!.

We finally seem to be back to our routine for the year.

Riley and Matilda spend many hours keeping each other entertained. A favourite this week was bubbles.

Declan is being kept busy as the homework has started for Grade 1. It seems so different to the work he was doing in Prep.  I am amazed at all the things he has learnt already this year, like counting by fives to 100 and doing some wonderful work on the computer using programs I am not game to start up!

dsc_0047-3

Riley is really enjoying Kinder and swimming this year but still struggling with his eczema. The steroid cream and egg free diet don’t seem to have made any difference so back to the doctors we go.

I also heard that some band called U2 released a new album last Friday?. I am trying to stick to my strict budget at the moment and it is taking all of my will power to wait until Wednesday to go and buy it!. I know that it will definitely be worth the wait!.

The last week was another challenge for Victoria. More fires, one of which I watched from the first puffs of smoke at around 2:30 Monday afternoon in Upwey.  Fingers crossed we all get through the next danger day on Tuesday and then that’s it for a very long while.   The only one positive is the beautiful sunrises we have been getting.

Stay safe for the coming week,

Take care and Enjoy Life.
