Super Quick Update

OK, I promised a post before the week was out so here it is!.

Declans hearing assessment went super. He passed easily and I was told his concentration levels for a six year old are amazing. He thought it was alot of fun. Back to school today, it certainly was a chilly walk this morning.  Hope he remembers to bring his $50 school jacket home.

Riley has Kinder this arvo. He is really trying my patience (what little I have!) at the moment. I thought he was suppose to be improving by this age???. The sooking, tantrums, talking back and not listening are driving me nuts. He seems so tired all the time though sleeps from 7:30 – 8pm to 6:30 – 7am. If I put him to bed earlier then he just stays awake till 7:30 anyway and then he also gets to spend little time with his dad in the evenings. Still not sure what to do with this one.

Matilda is likely to get her needles today :-(   She is still cutting her 5 teeth but cant put it off any longer. Hopefully she will be OK. Still not walking, almost took a step yesterday then decided otherwise.

I am going to try and catch up on washing and housework over the next few days while the weather is nice, riveting I know!.  Look out for an exciting post next week (hopefully). Might be getting an early birthday present :-)

huh?

I am still here!. Been a busy week as usual with extra commitments thrown in so as before, this is a “quick” update of the week that was.

Declan has progressed up one level with his school readers. About 50% of the class have done so and we feel that this a good sign that he is coping really well with school.  To think we spent months and months worrying about what to do and now look at him. I do feel that he is starting to get a little tired this term with the full weeks. We have just had a pretty quiet weekend so he should be fully recharged for the week ahead.

Riley had 2 swimming lessons this week to make up for a lesson missed when we were all sick :-(   He is doing OK though does not do all that his teacher asks. He is still not convinced that he will not “sink” so there are some tasks that he just refuses to do and sits on the edge of the pool with the bottom lip sticking out!. We are working really hard with him and he assures me this week will be better  mmmm lets wait and see.  His whole personality is changing at the moment. Half the time he is the funniest little boy who just brightens your day and the other half of the time he is screaming and throwing the most amazing tantrums over silly things.  His speech seems to have moved up a notch and to be honest I look forward to the brief moments during the day when he is quiet!.

Miss Matilda is still in the process of cutting 5 teeth at once.  She loves to get involved in anything her brothers are doing though does seem to get frustrated easily when things dont quite go her way. She has a new trick….drinking through a straw.

As you can see she is pretty proud of herself. Still no signs of walking, my guess is she wont attempt it until 14-15mths. Oh and as you can see, that fringe is still pretty short!.

Had the pleasure of a night out scrapping last night. Caroline and I battled the wonderful weather and drove out to Mornington. Managed to complete 2 pages. Next weeks invite is very tempting, will see how we go.

This weekend have managed to catch up on a few chores around the house. Spent some time in the garden this afternoon. Its very colourful at the moment.

I just love the look of fallen leaves on a freshly mown lawn . I now have two new garden beds which need some plants so might head to the markets next weekend.

Have a few things on this week, Declan has a hearing assesment on Wednesday which also happens to be a pupil free day at school (well planned!). He also has a Disco at school on Friday afternoon, should be a hoot.

Have a good one guys and will try and update before the week is out.

Baby got Bangs!

I did it!. I cut her hair!!!!!   She woke from her afternoon nap, with her hair down to her nose, covered in snot (sorry if thats TMI), so I had to do it.  Took her into the bathroom, combed it straight , reached for the scissors, went snip and then had a mild panic attack. OMG.

Lets just say I never planned for her fringe to be THAT short.  OOOOOPS.  Once it was done I put her up infront of the mirror and she giggled like crazy.

so here is the end result.

and another

as soon as her hair is long enough, I will start to trim the ends to get a “bob” style happening then grow it from there. I think it suits her and as long as I always dress her in lots of pink she looks really girly!!!hahaha.  I am just glad its out of her eyes, that must have driven her nuts!.

Let me know what you all think (good or bad). I am sure it will be back down to her eyes within a couple of weeks it seems to be growing so fast.

Week In Review.

Here is a quick catch up of our past week. Been a little busy, we have all been a little unwell and to be honest I seem to be getting worse not better  :-(   We are all full of a cold and mine seems to have gone to my chest and is quite painful.

Declan had  a busy week at school, taking part in two presentations at his last assembly. The first was a certificate to celebrate his birthday and the second was a class award. He was very proud of both and I think he was quite happy standing up infront of the whole school.

(sorry for the dodgy photo)

On Thursday Matilda was going to get her 12 month needles but due to her cold and teething had a temp instead so that has been postponed until this week (maybe).  Teeth number 13-16 are in the process of coming through and then that should be it for a little while I hope. She is such a brave girl.  She is also sleeping through finally (Sorry Julie) and is now down to just 1 bottle at bedtime. Up until recently she was still having the 3 bottles and since cutting out 2 she is eating more and sleeping alot better at night, even with the new teeth.

Her hair is giving me grief. I want to give her some “bangs” like mummy but dont want to make her look like a boy IYKWIM.  She rarely keeps her clips in so I think the time has come, I need to get that hair out of her eyes. For some reason her fringe is so much longer than the rest of her hair.  Will post a pic once I have cut it, (aslong as its not toooo bad!)

Riley has come out of his shell over the past month. Really starting to make friends at Playgroup and Kinder. Had a haircut last week and you should have seen him flirt with the lady cutting it . She kept getting the giggles. My quiet “Mr Serious” might be a thing of the past.

Saturday was Mothers Day at Auskick so Jo and I got involved. We ran one of the training drills which was very funny and a fantastic work out.  We then had to play a game of footy against the children. Of course we lost by heaps and boy I am still feeling it!. Every muscle seems to be hurting at the moment. Yesterday I was really struggling to get out of the car!!!. I am seriously unfit.

Steve had to work 6-6 Mothers Day. He had given the boys strict instructions for the morning so this is what I woke too.

A lovely pile of pressies!!!!!. I was very spoilt receiving a scarf, PJ’s, a lovely hanky and soaps made by Riley at Kinder and a writing/card set from Declan. He thinks its something to do with scrapbooking which is why he picked that gift at the school stall so must make sure I incorporate some of it into a layout!.  They also managed to make their own breakfast,  but not mine LOL, I think they were a little confused. Popped into Mum and Dads for afternoon tea with some lemon slice we whipped up.  It was a lovely day though not much of a rest.

This is a rare photo of me and my babies.  I MUST make more effort to get infront of the camera. I just hate seeing a photo of myself but am trying to get over that fear as I know I will regret it later in life.

Well thats about it. Hope you all have a good week.

Take care

A little pick “us” up

As some of us are going through some tough times and others are struggling with “bugs” that make us feel unwell here is a little something to remind us all of the small, mundane things that make us happy.  The task is to list 7 (my lucky number) simple pleasures.

Here are mine.

1.  Laughing until I cry even if what I am laughing at is not that funny after all.

2.  The way the house feels when the housework is all done. Everything feels so clean and fresh.

3.  An unexpected call from a friend “just ringing for a chat”. Its nice to know another adult is thinking of me  :-)

4.    The rare Sunday morning when the whole house decides to sleep in until 8am.

5.   5 empty plates at Dinner.

6.   The smell in the air on a warm summers morning, before the heat sets in.

7.   Clean sheets on the bed, I would change them everyday if I had the energy.

I could keep on going but will stop there. Now its your turn.  Look forward to reading your responses.

Hope everyone has a great week and you all start feeling better.

That’s it!

No more parties for 6 months. Phew. I really should have planned everything a little better and not had children with birthdays 9 days apart.   The 5 year age gap and boy/girl thing means that combined parties are going to be a little hard to do. Cant really see Declan at aged 10 wanting to share his birthday party with his 5 year old sister!. I am sure that would not be very cool.

Anyway, Declan had a fantastic day (as we all did) . He was very spoilt with all his lovely presents. Of course his #1 was the Lego set we got him. Buying it was a complete drama but glad he is happy. Not sure where I am going to store it all.  The party at Hungry Jacks was really well run, we had a great party host. I didnt have to do a thing.

This is a photo my dad took, I just love it. That face is so cute

Also, finally got around to getting an up to date family shot. After many attempts this is as good as it got. 4 out of 5 looking at the camera and smiling is not a bad effort.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

Take care

Its only been 1 month….

since I last had a chance to indulge in my hobby. I got scrapping last night!.  Steve had to work :-( so I made the most of a quiet evening on my own and did 2 pages. Of course they turned out nothing like I had planned but atleast they are done.

Again they are pretty simple but its either that or nothing!. I dont have time at the moment to spend hours on one page.
