Who is this?

where did my little man go?. Here is Declan on his first day of school.  I had to wake him at 9am ( we had a 1 hour session starting at 10am). I have to admit I was not at all sad about him starting school until he put that uniform on :-(   He looks so grown up.  (Sorry for the bad photo, my camera was on the wrong setting oops)

p1090336.jpg

His teacher is just lovely and his classroom is fantastic, all new and wonderful.  The hour we spent there today was great and he is really looking forward to going back. Tomorrow will be the big test when we leave him there but I am sure we are all going to cope fine.

Riley also starts kinder tomorrow so its going to be a big day for us.

Wishing you all luck for your first days.

Our Australia Day.

We celebrated “Australia Day” yesterday due to Steve working on Saturday. Had a wonderful family BBQ complete with lamb chops (boy were they hard to find!!!) and sausages, “carrot salad” (coleslaw) etc etc.

 collage3.jpg

We all ate ourselves stupid and then worked it off with another round of backyard cricket. Earlier in the week I posted Declans wonderful batting action, well here is Riley bowling. With a face like that the batsmen would have no chance of hitting the ball as they would be blinded by laughter!.

It was a good day, great weather and nice to have Steve home for a change!.

On Sunday the boys came across some old tattoos so here they are posing with their scary pirate faces!.

p1090120.jpg

Only 1 more sleep until Declan goes to school .  Tomorrow is just a 1 hour session where I stay with him and we label books and set up his locker etc. He gets to go in full uniform so that will be a big thrill. Thursday is the first day where I leave him there. We are all very excited about him starting. I know he will love it and I really feel that he and Riley will benefit by having a little break from each other IYKWIM.  I am pretty much organised, just need to work out how to get those bl***y labels to stick to his uniform and we will be set!.

Riley starts 3YO kinder on Thursday and swimming (wish me luck!) on Friday so its going to be a big week for us all.

Miss Matilda is having a few rough nights, starting to get upset about being left alone in her room. Steve and I are trying to stay strong and not make too much of a fuss. She is such a ball of energy at the moment and just cant stand being left out of anything. She is always following the boys around trying to join in on their games. They think its cute………. for now.

Good luck to all the new school/kinder kids (and school/kinder mums and dads) this week.

Here begins the next chapter of our lives

Scrapping and stuff

Last night after another one of “those” days I decided to scrap. Didnt start till after 9pm but needed to have some me time. This is the result

p1080998.jpg

My glasses are going well, when I remember to wear them! I have an appointment with my surgeon next week as I am still waiting for the op on my neck and now my face is starting to go numb and swell  on that side. Hopefully I will get called up sooner rather than later ( my fault for not having private health insurance ).

Had to share this picture of Riley “hiding” in his bedroom. From memory I did the same thing as a child! p1080975.jpg

Yesterday we were preparing for the Australia Day weekend with a game of backyard cricket. Steve is actually working today and tomorrow so we will celebrate on Monday.

p1080945.jpg

Not sure the technique is right but he was hitting the ball which is the main thing.

We picked up Declans school supplies this week. He was pretty excited. Only 4 more sleeps till his first day!!!!

p1080921.jpg

Besides all of the above we had a busy week catching up with friends. Next week is going to be fun with School/Kinder/Swimming.  Back to early mornings for us :-(

Matilda is full of a cold again. She had a rotten night sleep wise, kept me awake for most of it and then this morning one of my fears came true when she discovered the dogs water bowl. Now she knows where it is there is going to be a constant battle to keep her away from it .

Congratulations to my friends Stephen and Nofi on their Wedding and to Will and Tara on the birth of their daughter this week.  So good to finally have some happy news!.

Still very sad about Heath Ledger. He was one of my favourite actors, a pleasure to watch (for both acting abililty and looks).  He was one of the reasons I liked the name Matilda so I am reminded every time I say her name that his little girl doesnt have her daddy anymore.

Enjoy your Australia Day, I am going to potter around the house, listen to Triple J hottest 100 and then pop over to mums for lunch.

New Glasses

Thats right, I have glasses (again). I wore them for reading during High School and whilst I worked but once I became a lady of leisure (ha ha) I stopped wearing them.  Been feeling pretty rotten lately (long long story) so decided on the advice of my doctor to get my eyes tested and so I am back to wearing glasses for reading, computer work, scrapping, TV etc.

What do you think?????

p1080823edit.jpg

They are quite different to my old pair.  Did not realise that every label seems to sell glasses now!.  After looking at Celine Dion, Converse, Gucci, Country Road, Barbie (oh yeah, they were kids ones!), FCUK etc etc I decided on this lovely pair of Calvin Klein specs. I wish they had “no name” ones, I am sure they would have been alot cheaper.  Lets hope they do the trick

I got Scrappy.

After a couple of *yuk* layouts which I refuse to share with you all, I feel I got my groove back a little and finally did 2 layouts in one night that I actually like!.

This first one came together so quickly and I really love it.

p1080806.jpg

and this one has been on my to do list for ages. I found the photos really hard to work with but there is a little story behind it (hidden journalling) and I really wanted to get it done. Turned out OK.

p1080807.jpg

its the first time I have made my own title, no stencil or stamps or stickers or chipboard, just some patterned paper and my scissors!.

Well, I did try,

but it was just not working!. I wanted an up to date photo of the 3 kiddies and noticed that they were all wearing stripes so thought today would be the day but Miss Matilda had other ideas. That girl will not sit still anymore!. She is so calm whilst in her pusher or highchair but once she is “free” she does not stop moving.  Here are the results.

collage11.jpg

The boys did a good job trying to keep her still for a second or two but it was just not meant to be today, maybe next time.

We have had some success with Riley this week. One thing Riley would not/could not do was dress himself. He would not even try when asked and I always gave in and did it for him as it was just quicker and saved an argument. Well I decided that seeing as he is about to start 3yo kinder, I really wanted him to be able to take his own jumper on or off etc so last week I said he had to do it himself from now on.  It was hard to sit there and watch him struggle but does a beautiful job now. Sometimes we do venture out the house with a top on backwards or a sock inside out but I am just so proud of him I dont care!. To be honest I have created a monster now who refuses any help what so ever.

Its been such a busy week with 3 parties and a couple of catch ups with friends. Today is  housework day, which is why I am sitting on the computer!!!.  Steve has finally gone for a ride to try out his helmet camera which means I get to watch 2 hours of him and his mates falling off their motorbikes in the mud, YAY!. He assures me this thing will win us a few prizes on funniest home videos!!!

Have a great week, hope to catch up with some of you before school starts.

The uniform is washed….

and ready to go. Was strange to see it all hanging on the line today.  I have cleared a couple of shelves in Declans wardrobe so his school uniform will be kept seperate from the rest of his clothes. This is my attempt to make the crazy school morning routine a little easier.  Really getting Declan ready will not be a problem, getting Matilda and Riley ready to leave the house by 8:45 will be!.

p1080656.jpg

Declan is becoming more and more an “Emo” wannabe.  Isnt 5 a bit young for all of this?. He is completely hooked on anything that has “bones” on it (skulls). He loves all the Emo bands, they are by far his favourite songs to see on Video Hits or Rage on the weekend ( Steve always has these shows on if he is not working).  We have now noticed that he is changing his Lego men to reflect this style. I asked him today why the Lego men had their hair covering one eye and was promptly told “to make them groovy mum”.

p1080676.jpg

p1080673.jpg

Isnt this just the funniest thing?  I fear he is really going to be one of those kids who follows every trend that comes along.  I can handle this, so far, but if he starts wearing his pants so low that his undies are hanging out the top, then I will really start to worry!.

Ups and Downs (and something funny!)

I must say that this year has not started off in the best manner. To be honest last year ended much the same way. I seem to be surrounded by bad news at the moment, concerning family and friends and friends of friends, ill health and worse. Lets just hope all the bad stuff is getting out of the way so the rest of the year can be fantastic. Lets hope that all of those going through the tough times come out the other side better than ever!. Lets hope it just gets better.

Declan has been suffering this week. As well as the few grazes associated with too much confidence, not enough experience on his bike without training wheels, he came down with a temp last night. Went from feeling fine to shivering in about 0.03 seconds!. Panadol didnt do much but eventually his temp came down and today he was fine, though a little grumpy. Here he is on the couch yesterday, with Riley there to keep him company.

 p1080630.jpg

Tilly had the same thing a couple of weeks ago so must be something going around. Speaking of Tilly she has a few new tricks. She can now wave and say hi/bye. She shared her first bath with Riley last night which she thought was pretty fun. She just loves any attention she can get from her brothers.  Here she is tonight before bed in her new PJ’s she got from Aunty Gill and her glow “Pooh” (???) from Aunty Caroline and Co (Xmas pressies).

p1080640.jpg

Busy cathing up with friends over the next 2 weeks and then its School and Kinder!!!!. Also trying to sort out all the cupboards in my house before hard rubbish collection next week, though not getting very far I must admit. My horoscope for the year actually said I need to sort and de-clutter my house. How right was that!. Will do some more tomorrow, I promise.

OK so now the funny. We were at mums today visiting when we heard an almighty scream from the backyard. It was Riley and he was hysterical. We raced out, thinking Declan had just given him what for when we were told by D that “Riley is scared of the white thing with lots of legs, it flew over there”. “what the?” was the response from mum and I . Well turns out the white thing with lots of legs is a fairy, you know the little seed pods that fly around!. Mum and I were then the ones hysterical with laughter.  He did the same thing with Opa a few weeks ago.  Tonight he was alot better with them and even picked a small one up so this phase should not last very long! (file that away for his 21st!).

One more funny. You know that guy on the news, “Party Corey”. Not really wanting to draw anymore attention to him but….. you know its getting too much when your 5 year old and 3 year old recognise him on TV. As soon as his picture comes up they point and say “thats Corey, the other Corey!” (Steve has a friend who is their #1 Corey). I just hope we dont see him at the shops because I am sure they will recognise him and say something!! OMG how bad would that be!.

Enjoy your week
