A Beautiful start to the day.
How old is that!
Whilst clearing out the study to make way for Matilda earlier this year we came across some old coins that Steve has had since he was a child. They sat around for a few months waiting to be cleaned, it never happened, so they ended up in the kitchen draw. We finally got them out to have a look and found one that looked really old. We had some dated around 1900 but this one just looked REALLY REALLY old. It had no date on it as it had worn off. After about 15 minutes research on the internet we found out it is a coin from the 1670’s!!!!!. Its just amazing when you start to think where that coin could have been (good and bad), whose pockets it sat in and so on. Needless to say the coin is no longer in a plastic bag in the kitchen draw and is in a safe place.
Daffodils, Drawings & Updates.
Well to start on a cheery note, here is my first Daffodil for the season. They are one of my favourite flowers as they always seem to brighten up the garden just when you start to think that winter will be here for ever.
Well there is another week gone (and boy its been a long one!). Riley has really started to get into the swing of things with regards to tantrums. I seem to remember that the terrible twos where not as bad as the terrifying threes with Declan so I guess Riley is just warming up for his birthday in a few months. During a particuarly bad episode this week (because I insisted the back door be closed as it was about 9 degrees outside) Declan decided to draw a picture of what he saw! Note the “angry” mouth and how the tears coming out of Rileys eyes could double as horns.
Matilda is starting to move around now when we put her on the floor. She is pushing off with her feet whilst lying on her back and also starting to hold onto toys and put them in her mouth. The other night she moved right off her play mat so the boys better watch their toys from now on!. Her finger is still looking sore so maybe a trip to the doctors is on the cards for next week.
I managed to get another layout done this week. I really should get a move on as my pile of photos to be scrapped is just getting bigger and bigger.
Update for Mum and Dad
Steve went to Bobs on the weekend and Misty is doing great, she has settled in just fine.
Geelong defeated Fremantle YAY
Collingwood v Brisbane – Mum you DONT want to know, really.
Steve Bracks and John Thwaites resign, John Brumby to be premier as of Monday.
First family photo…
Wow, it only took us 3 months but we finally have a photo of the five of us!. This was taken last weekend before we headed out for tea with the rest of the family. Atleast four of us were looking in the right direction and I guess Matilda can be excused for not following orders but just this once. As you will see in the second photo she has now worked it out.
None of my children were ever into dummies. Declan got by with nothing, Riley was a thumb sucker from the moment he was born (literally) and as you can see Miss Matilda has devised her own unique way of settling herself to sleep (a true rock chick in the making). This has only developed over the last 6 weeks but is now something she depends on. It was working fine for us until today when I noticed she had a sore on her finger which seems to be getting infected. We went through this with Riley and his thumb when he was 18 months old so I am guessing she has bitten her finger and now its really sore. I have tired to cover it up with a mitten but of course that means she is having trouble settling herself to sleep. She was up every couple of hours last night and has not been much better today. Hopefully it will heal soon and we can get back to our routine.
The following is an update for Mum and Dad
I had my meeting with the School. It went really well, again I am really impressed with all the programs they run and hopefully we will make a final decision on Declan soon.
Riley is already asking where Opa is
No news yet from Steve on the job front
Kevin Sheedy has been sacked as the coach of Essendon.
No phone messages or interesting mail
Hope you are having fun!!.
Frosty Mornings.
I love waking to look outside and see a white lawn. This was certainly the case on Sunday morning when I headed out the door at 7:30am to go to the butchers (crazy I know but it was the only time I could get there!) When I was younger I loved to walk on the “crunchy” grass and to tell you the truth I still can not resist taking a detour across the lawn on my way out!. Here are a couple of pics I took that morning. The first is a frozen daisy and the second is my front lawn which is actually more weeds than lawn but atleast its green ( or should that be white?).
Bye Bye :-(
Well yesterday my Dad, Mum and their friend Helmut left for 3 months in Europe. They will be visiting family in Germany and England, touring around Europe and stoppng over in Hong Kong on the way home. We wish them all a safe and happy journey and are already counting down the days until they return
(only 89 sleeps to go!).
Hope you are having fun guys .
Just a quick note for Mum and Dad – Matilda would not take a bottle!. Poor Steve was trying to call me but my phone was playing up. He just had to “entertain” her for a few hours !. She was OK and had a good feed when I got home. Steve handled it like a pro and was not stressed at all, just had to give her lots of cuddles to keep her happy.
I am on fire!
Yes, another layout!. Tried to do something a little different to my usual style this time. No title, no journalling just a really nice photo and a little detail (jane I am soooo loving the ceramics, note the flowers I added to the heart,) Anyway sometimes I just need to force myself to try something new. Even tried a little stitching but I am so not into the sewing thing. Will have to work on that a little more.
We are now back to normal with kinder and playgroup starting again today. It has been a long 2 weeks and with all that rain, as good as it was, the boys were starting to get a little bored. Last week we put up a little tent in Declans room and the 2 boys loved it. Its in the shape of a lady bug with a tunnel coming off the side. It takes up nearly all the floor space in Declans room but atleast it kept them occupied for a short while. Here they are enjoying their afternoon tea in it.
Matilda is getting bigger by the day. Here she is having her first real bath in the BIG bath. She is already starting to out grow our baby bath but its seems such a waste of water to fill the big bath for her to be in it a few minutes so we are currently alternating between the 2.
Steves mum is currently visiting from Tasmania so we will be busy catching up with her this week. Its been 16 months since she was last over so as you can imagine the boys have changed quite alot since then and she also has Matilda to meet. Declan and Riley were very excited to see her so I am sure they are really going to enjoy having her around for the week.
Hope you all have a good one
Helen.
It was not deliberate but……
I just noticed how nicely the “Bunny Eggs” LO matches the colours on my blog.
I must be going through a Green/Blue phase at the moment. Maybe its my way of rebelling against all the PINK in our house! HAHA

Bunny Eggs!
Here is the LO I did last night. Declan and Riley were so excited this easter because the Easter Bunny was going to come and leave “Bunny Eggs” for them. Check out the photos at the bottom of the page, how cheeky are they! I just love the patterned paper I used, (Its so funky and bright) and the large B is from the Reject Shop. They come in a pack of 4 mixed letters for $2!!. Bargain!!!.
Hope you all have a good weekend.

Its Back…….
Our dryer is back from the dead and up and running again. I have missed it sooooo much.
We have had a pretty quiet week. The boys are having a little holiday with Grandma and Opa tonight which they were very excited about. They packed their suitcases and could not wait to get out the door this afternoon. Declan does a great job of getting all his “stuff” organised, including his toothbrush and teddy.
I tried to do a little shopping for “Santa” today but Tilly decided she was not in the mood at all so it was not a very successful trip. She has been off for the last couple of days and those bright red cheeks tell me that her first tooth may not be far away. She is only 11 weeks I know but Riley got his first tooth at 12 weeks so anything is possible. She is sleeping well at night now, going anywhere from 8 – 11 hours. She is also in bed by 8 o’clock which means that I get a couple of hours to myself in the evening ( more time to scrap).
We will be back to the crazy days of Kinder, swimming, playgroup etc next week . As much as I like the quiet time over the holidays by the end of the 2 weeks I am more than ready to get back to a routine. We are usually so busy running around the kids dont have much time to get bored. Declan just loves kinder so much and keeps asking how many sleeps until he gets to go back. Roll on monday morning!.
I did get some scrapping done tonight and will post a pic tomorrow.
Helen
